About: This culinary vacation school is designed for people who want to learn about the food and culinary traditions of Provence with a small, congenial group.The school is located in a beautifully restored convent in the medieval village of Aups deep in the interior of Provence. Programs last one week, during which a maximum of 6 participants visit artisan cheesemakers, honey makers, wineries, and olive mills. They shop at regional open markets. Hands-on cooking classes are held in the big farmhouse-style kitchen.Meals at regional restaurants are also included in the program. Georgeanne Brennan, the owner and chef-instructor, is an American who has had a homein Haute Provence for more than 25 years, and has won a James Beard Award for her memoir-cookbook on the region, The Food and Flavors of Haute Provence. She has written numerous books and articles on Provence, France, including Aperitif, Savoring France,Potager, and The French Kitchen Garden. Classes are available each year in spring and fall.
